BOLIVIA: Flooded Salar de Uyuni – A Wet Season Mirror (7 Days)

There are few places in this world where we go to time and time again, year after year, and never get tired of it. That place is the Salar de Uyuni when it is flooded!

If there ever was a natural spectacle that merits an award, an applause or a bow from us, it is when the world’s largest salt flat floods for about four months every year. The rainy season in Bolivia is from December to March and that is when Bolivia gets their rain – and specifically the Bolivian highlands get their snow – which causes flooding on the Altiplano.

BOLIVIA: Altiplano Salt Flats, Volcanoes & Badlands (14 Days)

This adventurous 4×4 overland photo workshop is designed to get into the heart and soul of the Bolivian Altiplano, focusing on the wild south-western corner. Thus, we will be spending most of our time within the regions of the Salar de Uyuni and south, deep in the Sud Lipez region and then east towards the badlands of Tupiza.

These places will leave you breathless – not only due to the beauty, but the altitude as well. In order to acclimatize properly we will make our way south, gaining altitude slowly, while visiting surreal locations. The plan is to be at the places that are most spectacular during the best times of day for photographing the grand landscape and wildlife of this region. The Altiplano is an amazing landscape and offers surprises to new and frequent visitors alike.

BOLIVIA: Apolobamba – The Kallawaya Trail (12 Days)

There are countless of locations in the Bolivian highlands that merit a visit. In our opinion one of the most impressive and least-visited regions in Bolivia is the remote Apolobamba Range in western Bolivia, north of Lake Titicaca, straddling the Peruvian border..

The Apolobamba is a long way from the tourist route thus we cannot count on suitable accommodations near our prime locations, so we will spend some of the tour days camping, but that is a blessing as the locations we are headed to should be in great shape and not overrun with tourists. The most important aspect of being in the region is that the range is absolutely spectacular and has a great variety of beautiful locations we will visit.
